# GPT Image 3.0 FAQ

## What is GPT Image 3.0?

GPT Image 3.0 is an independent browser workspace for OpenAI image generation. It currently runs GPT Image 2.5 and will switch to GPT Image 3 in the same account when OpenAI releases it.

## Is GPT Image 3 available?

No. OpenAI has not released GPT Image 3 or published a release date as of October 2026. The generator runs GPT Image 2.5 and labels it as such.

## Which model generates the images?

gpt-image-2.5, OpenAI's current image model. Each example card on the home page shows the model that produced it.

## How much does an image cost?

A 1K image costs 4 credits, 2K costs 6 and 4K costs 10. New accounts get 8 free credits, and failed generations return their credits.

## Can I edit my own photo?

Yes. Upload one or more reference photos, describe what should change and what must stay, and the model keeps faces, products and layouts recognisable.

## Can I use images commercially?

Commercial use follows OpenAI's terms for the underlying model and this site's terms. Review both before publishing for products, ads or print.

## What happens when GPT Image 3 launches?

The site switches the generator to GPT Image 3 in the same workspace. Your account, credit balance and generation history stay in place, and pricing for the new model will be shown before you generate.

## Is there an API?

Yes. Create an API key on the API Keys page and call the image endpoint with gpt-image-2.5, your prompt, aspect ratio and resolution.
